Example Poem:

What is art, in its purest form?

The pinnacle of human expression?

It is the essence of what it is to be alive, and nothing more

It is creating something beautiful, just for the sake of it

Capturing a feeling into a singular moment

The purpose of art is to marvel in the miracle that we are alive and breathing

On a giant rock hurling around a ball of fire at unimaginable speed

While we can sit and drink in the stillness of a late summer afternoon

Life is art, and art is Life

What does it mean to be Disabled?

Are you an object of pity?

A failure of what society says a human ‘should’ be?

Are you a human at all or a collection of diagnoses?

To be alive while Disabled is a rebellious act

To create art is to be alive and free

To be Disabled and create art is a radically humanizing act

To show that you are not, just, a collection of diagnoses
